PeaceWorksTMM Lyn Adamson Age 59, I am a lifelong activist for peace and justice.
I am a Quaker and Co-Chair of Canadian Voice of Women for
Peace. I’ve been on numerous non-profit boards, for food
co-ops, housing co-ops, daycare, and also for Zatoun Olive
Oil. I’m a mediator and trainer in conflict resolution,
and a nonviolence trainer. I’ve worked with peace teams in
conflict zones, mostly as an organizer and trainer (with
Peace Brigades Indonesia Project, and Nonviolent Peaceforce,
for the Sri Lanka and Mindanao teams). In Toronto I’m the
coordinator of a project called ‘PeaceWorks’ which offers
training in communication, nonviolent social transformation,
and activism skills. I was a human rights observer in the
West Bank in 2004 with the International Women’s Peace
Service. This experience left me with a very strong desire
to do more to end the oppression of Palestinians and to
support human rights in the region. I consider the
Freedom Flotilla to have great potential to bring about
positive change and an end to the blockade. It does involve
taking a risk and I am proud to be part of a group of
Canadians willing to put our bodies on the line for
justice.
I am the parent of two adult children and very concerned
that we find a way to use our resources for peacebuilding
and environmental preservation, not for militarism and
oppression. This will require a transition in our thinking
. We are all part of the same circle of life – and we can
make amazing changes happen when we work together.
